Beam Lamp

Inspired by classic wall lamps and lanterns, the Beam lamp offers a versatile lighting experience. Utilizing advanced battery technology, this lamp can be easily detached from the wall and placed on different surfaces, allowing you to create the perfect ambiance in any space.

The initial concept was created as a studio project. We wanted to use our existing knowledge of both lighting and battery technology to form a nomadic and versatile portable lamp. This is primarily aimed at the residential markets.

First Prototypes

Use Cases and Product Future

Our first set of 3D-printed prototypes for the Beam Lamp revealed several critical insights. The prints highlighted issues with scale, specifically problems with ease of chargability when produced at a larger scale.

This also underscored a valuable use case within the hospitality industry, where practical and efficient charging is crucial.

Consequently, the original charging method required a thorough review to ensure cost-effectiveness within the competitive market.

Project Development

Hospitality Settings

Our exploration in part one highlighted how Beam could be further developed, allowing it to fit into a broarder set of environments.

We changed the form factor, such as scaling the overall dimensions down, and reducing the length of the product’s ‘stem‘. We also thought about a more convinient way to charge the product, which brought single and multiple charge bases to the range

The CMF was also re-worked to fit into a more elegant user environment. These environments include residential, hospitality, and even workplace, in the form of both indoor and outdoor lighting.
